What is Motivational Maps?

A Motivational Map is a comprehensive on-line assessment and diagnostic tool that highlights the major motivators of the individual and/or the wider team.  Once organizations have this important information, they can then begin to implement a range of techniques, tools and strategies in order to maximize levels of motivation.  The ten page report that will be compiled for each individual and team, also serves as a very valuable starting point for interventions such as individual and team coaching and/or mentoring, staff supervision and appraisal.

Maps can be drawn up for the individual and/or team within an organization, creating invaluable information and guidance for team leaders and managers.  Part of the ten page report is a number of reward strategies that can be implemented to maximize motivation and thereby increase team performance.  Another handy aspect for team effectiveness included in the team report is the ‘change index score’ which reveals how ready for change the team currently is.

Why is Motivation Important in the Workplace?

Our performance at work is the result of a combination of our skills, abilities and level of motivation.  Even the most skilled and experienced person cannot be at peak performance if they are not motivated.  But what is it that motivates us to get up every morning and do the job we have chosen for a career?  Is it just the money?  If so, no one would be doing the many important but not highly paid jobs in society!

The truth is that there are nine basic motivators at work and we have a mixture of them all in various quantities.  But how can we work out the formula for every person in our team, workplace or even ourselves?  The answer is by using Motivational Maps.  This tool is the result of five years’ research into human motivation, and is quick and easy to use and interpret for employees and managers alike.

How Do Motivational Maps Work?
Discovering your unique and personal Motivational Map is easy.  A concise questionnaire of 45 questions is used, which takes less than 20 minutes to complete, either on-line or paper-based. Your answers are scored and a basic report produced.  The results for the on-line version are available instantly. The report will include your top three motivators – with a chance to determine levels – with insightful descriptions that make interpretation easy and accessible.  Managers can then be trained to use this information to coach, motivate and reward their staff more effectively.

Risk Reversal Guarantee

If, in the highly unlikely event that by the conclusion of a project, none of the managers, no members of staff and no individuals feel that they have had any benefit whatsoever from the process presented by Motivational Maps SA then, (with the exception of the cost of the Motivational Maps) all fees paid will be refunded.

The storm within

The world around us might look stormy and adversity filled when we are hosting a storm within.  How many times have you been doing something where instead you should have been busy with something else or find that your head is in conflict with your heart?  Somebody once explained it as  “It’s like there’s a constant storm within me…parts of me that collide and battle together and this all creates a lot of anxiousness within me.” You get angry at yourselves and fight with these parts of you to keep them from showing up again.

Relax, you are not going crazy.  It is possible to orchestrate what may seem like overwhelming forces within and create the calm in the storm; a place of peace in the middle of a swirl of energy. You can use all of the energy previously channeled to fight yourself and fix it into something you are passionate about, being more satisfied, productive and certain.

How is this possible? Indeed there are many steps in the process of which one will be to find out which hot buttons triggers this storm within you.  By identifying what motivates you and how the motivators can cause conflict within you, this mountain can be changed into a mole heap.

  • Experience clarity of thoughts for better decision making;
  • Feel more calm and in control;
  • Become confident in what you want;
  • Be more available and attuned to the needs of your family or others important to you;
  • Develop appreciation for what is happening that is good by having a better attitude; become more able to do “the best you can” even if it’s not perfect;
  • Be more able to be patient if your partner is frustrated and figure out how to resolve the frustration without feeling overwhelmed or defensive;
  • Become curious and interested to learn new things and expand your horizons;
  • Find ways around obstacles that prevent what is best for you;
  • Let yourself dream again about what you really want.
